Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 cups confectioners sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder
Instructions
Step 1: Beat the softened unsalted butter in a large bowl or stand mixer on medium-high speed for 5 minutes until light and fluffy.
Step 2: Sift the confectioners sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder together to ensure there are no lumps.
Step 3: Reduce the mixer speed to low and gradually add the sugar and cocoa mixture to the butter.
Step 4: Once incorporated, increase the speed to medium and beat for another 2-3 minutes until the 3-Ingredient Chocolate Buttercream Frosting is smooth and aerated.
Step 5: Use immediately to frost cakes or cupcakes, or store in the refrigerator until needed.
Notes
Ensure butter is at room temperature but not melting for the best texture. Sifting the cocoa is vital to prevent lumps.
