Description
A rich, velvety alfredo sauce made with butter, heavy cream, and fresh Parmesan cheese. This alfredo sauce recipe easy to make takes only 10 minutes and beats any jarred version.
Ingredients
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
1 1/2 cups Heavy Whipping Cream
2 tsp Garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/4 tsp Salt (or to taste)
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
1 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Be careful not to let the butter brown.
Step 2: Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, but not browned.
Step 3: Pour in the heavy whipping cream and whisk to combine. Let the mixture simmer gently for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it starts to thicken slightly.
Step 4: Reduce the heat to low. Whisk in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese one handful at a time, stirring constantly until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
Step 5: Remove from heat and stir in the salt and pepper. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
Always grate your own cheese from a block for the smoothest texture. Pre-shredded cheese contains anti-clumping agents that can make the sauce grainy.
