Description
A classic Italian-American lemon-garlic-herb sauce perfect for chicken, fish, or dipping bread.
Ingredients
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
Step 1: In a medium glass bowl, combine the fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until the salt is mostly dissolved.
Step 2: Slowly stream in the extra virgin olive oil while whisking constantly. This helps the amazing amogio sauce emulsify slightly.
Step 3: If using red pepper flakes for a bit of heat, stir them in now.
Step 4: Taste the amazing amogio sauce and adjust the salt or lemon juice according to your preference.
Step 5: Cover the bowl and let the amazing amogio sauce sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The oil may solidify in the fridge; simply let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes and shake well before use.
