- ¾ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 large egg
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Slice onions into thin rings and separate them.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- In another bowl, beat together the egg and milk at room temperature.
- Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, stirring gently to form a thick, smooth batter.
- Toss the sliced onions into the batter until each ring is evenly coated.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the onion-batter mixture into hot oil in small batches.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove fritters and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
