Description
A healthier, oven-baked version of the classic Chinese takeout dish featuring a sticky, zesty orange glaze.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Cooking oil spray
1 cup fresh orange juice
1 tbsp orange zest
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tbsp honey
1 tbsp rice vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Toss chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until evenly coated.
Step 3: Place chicken on the baking sheet in a single layer and spray lightly with oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
Step 4: In a small saucepan, combine orange juice, zest, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Simmer over medium heat for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
Step 5: Once the chicken is crispy and golden, remove from the oven and toss with the prepared orange sauce in a large bowl. Serve immediately over rice.
Notes
For an extra kick, add a half teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the sauce while simmering.
