Description

A comforting dessert featuring caramelized bananas topped with a buttery, crispy oat crumble.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large ripe bananas, sliced
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
3/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
Step 2: Toss sliced bananas with lemon juice, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; spread into the dish.
Step 3: In a bowl, whisk flour, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, salt, and remaining cinnamon.
Step 4: Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or fingers until the mixture forms pea-sized crumbs.
Step 5: Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the banana layer.
Step 6: Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and fruit is bubbling.
Step 7: Let cool for 10 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For the best results, use bananas that have plenty of brown spots but are not completely black.
