Description
A creamy, zesty dip inspired by the famous steakhouse appetizer, topped with golden-brown buttery panko crumbs.
Ingredients
3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
16 ounce jar cocktail onions, drained well
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter. Add panko, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, pepper, and salt. Stir until golden brown, then remove from heat.
Step 3: Finely chop the drained cocktail onions.
Step 4: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Fold in the chopped onions and shredded cheddar cheese.
Step 5: Spread the onion mixture into a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
Step 6: Top evenly with the toasted breadcrumb mixture.
Step 7: Bake for 15-20 minutes until the dip is hot and bubbling around the edges.
Notes
Ensure cocktail onions are very well drained to prevent a watery dip. For extra spice, add red pepper flakes to the panko mix.
