Description
Baked donuts infused with real maple syrup and dark brown sugar, topped with a maple glaze and a generous coating of cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1.5 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
2 tsp cinnamon (for coating)
1/4 cup maple syrup (for glaze)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 6-cavity donut pans with non-stick spray.
Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt.
Step 3: In a medium bowl, beat the egg with the dark brown sugar and 1/2 cup of maple syrup until smooth. Whisk in the melted butter and milk.
Step 4: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and fill the donut cavities about 3/4 full.
Step 5: Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Step 6: Brush each warm donut with the extra maple syrup glaze, then toss immediately in a bowl containing the granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.
Notes
Always use pure maple syrup for the best flavor profile.
