Description

A rich, velvety brown sugar syrup recipe perfect for lattes, pancakes, and cocktails. Made with just 3 ingredients in under 5 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
1 cup filtered water
1 pinch sea salt
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Combine the brown sugar, filtered water, and a pinch of salt in a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan.
Step 2: Place the pan over medium heat and stir constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Step 3: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it bubble for 2-3 minutes, but do not let it reach a full rolling boil to prevent it from becoming too thick.
Step 4: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract if using. Allow the syrup to cool completely at room temperature.
Step 5: Pour the cooled brown sugar syrup into a glass jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks.

Notes

Store in an airtight glass container for the best shelf life. If the syrup crystallizes, gently reheat it with a teaspoon of water.
