Description
A moist, aromatic loaf cake infused with black tea and a custom blend of warm chai spices.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
2 black tea bags
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1.5 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
Step 1: Heat the milk in a small saucepan until simmering, remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep for 10 minutes. Squeeze bags and discard.
Step 2: Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x5 loaf pan.
Step 3: Whisk together flour, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Step 4: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla and sour cream.
Step 5: Alternately add the dry ingredients and the tea-infused milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
Step 6: Pour batter into the pan and bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Step 7: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before moving to a wire rack.
Notes
For a deeper flavor, use loose leaf tea instead of bags and strain carefully.
