Ingredients
1 lb elbow macaroni
2 cups cooked chicken breast, cubed
3 cups fresh broccoli florets
3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Cook macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente, then drain.
Step 2: Steam the broccoli florets until tender-crisp, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 3: In a large saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour to create a roux; cook for 2 minutes.
Step 4: Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream until the sauce is thick and smooth.
Step 5: Stir in 3 cups of cheese and seasonings until melted.
Step 6: Combine pasta, chicken, broccoli, and cheese sauce in a baking dish.
Step 7: Top with the remaining cheese and bake at 375°F for 20 minutes until golden.
Notes
Use block cheese and grate it yourself for the smoothest sauce consistency.
