Ingredients
1 cup long-grain white rice
2 cups chicken broth
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Rinse 1 cup of long-grain white rice in a fine-mesh sieve until the water runs clear.
Step 2: In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of chicken broth and 2 tbsp of butter to a boil.
Step 3: Add the rice and seasonings, cover tightly, and reduce heat to low.
Step 4: Simmer for 15-18 minutes until the liquid is fully absorbed.
Step 5: Let the rice rest off the heat for 5 minutes, still covered.
Step 6: Stir in the milk and shredded cheddar cheese until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
