Description

A quick and easy recipe for savory melts featuring a creamy mixture of shrimp, crab, cream cheese, and mozzarella, all baked inside flaky biscuits, perfect for a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count)
1/2 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
1/2 cup lump crab meat
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp lemon zest
1 egg (for egg wash)
Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a medium bowl, combine the chopped cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella (or Monterey Jack), fresh chives, garlic powder, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Step 3: Separate the biscuit dough. On a lightly floured surface, gently flatten each biscuit into a 4-inch circle. You can use your hands or a rolling pin.
Step 4: Place about 2 tablespoons of the shrimp and crab filling in the center of each flattened biscuit.
Step 5: Fold the biscuit over the filling, sealing the edges by pinching them together firmly. Place the sealed melts seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 6: In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of each biscuit melt with the egg wash.
Step 7: Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and puffed. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Ensure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier mixing. For extra flavor, you can lightly sauté the shrimp with a pinch of old bay seasoning before chopping. Feel free to sprinkle some fresh parsley on top after baking for garnish.
