A decadent banana bread featuring a sweet cream cheese layer and a crunchy pecan cinnamon streusel topping.
Ingredients
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (Streusel)

1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar (Bread)
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups mashed overripe bananas
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
8 oz softened cream cheese
1/4 cup granulated sugar (Filling)
2 tbsp all-purpose flour (Filling)
1 tsp vanilla extract (Filling)
1 large egg yolk
1 cup powdered sugar (Glaze)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (Glaze)
2 tbsp milk
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
Step 2: In a small bowl, mix streusel ingredients (flour, sugars, cinnamon) and cut in cold butter until crumbly; stir in pecans and refrigerate.
Step 3: Beat filling ingredients (cream cheese, sugar, flour, vanilla, egg yolk) until smooth and set aside.
Step 4: Whisk together dry bread ingredients (flour, soda, powder, salt, cinnamon) in a medium bowl.
Step 5: Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs, bananas, vanilla, and sour cream; fold in dry ingredients and chocolate chips.
Step 6: Layer half the batter, all the filling, and the remaining batter in the pan; top with streusel.
Step 7: Bake for 60 minutes or until a tester comes out clean; cool completely on a wire rack.
Step 8: Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over the cooled loaf before serving.
Notes
Ensure bananas are very ripe for the best flavor. Store leftovers in the fridge due to the cream cheese filling.
