These soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls combine the comforting sweetness of banana bread with a rich cinnamon filling and a luscious cream cheese frosting for the ultimate breakfast indulgence.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 1 large banana)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Filling:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, mix mashed bananas, milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry mixtures, stirring until just combined.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll into a 1/4-inch-thick rectangle.
- Mix filling ingredients and spread over dough. Add nuts if using.
- Roll up dough from long side, seal edge, and slice into 12 pieces.
- Place rolls in greased 9x13 baking dish. Let rise 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake 25–30 minutes until golden.
- Beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to make frosting.
- Frost slightly cooled rolls and serve warm.
Notes
To customize, add chocolate chips, substitute cream cheese with Greek yogurt, or make it vegan with dairy-free alternatives and a flax egg. Store in fridge for up to a week or freeze before second rise. Reheat gently before serving.
