Description

These soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls combine the comforting sweetness of banana bread with a rich cinnamon filling and a luscious cream cheese frosting for the ultimate breakfast indulgence.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 1 large banana)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Filling:
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, mix mashed bananas, milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine wet and dry mixtures, stirring until just combined.
  4. Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll into a 1/4-inch-thick rectangle.
  5. Mix filling ingredients and spread over dough. Add nuts if using.
  6. Roll up dough from long side, seal edge, and slice into 12 pieces.
  7. Place rolls in greased 9x13 baking dish. Let rise 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake 25–30 minutes until golden.
  9. Beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to make frosting.
  10. Frost slightly cooled rolls and serve warm.

Notes

To customize, add chocolate chips, substitute cream cheese with Greek yogurt, or make it vegan with dairy-free alternatives and a flax egg. Store in fridge for up to a week or freeze before second rise. Reheat gently before serving.
