Description
A simple, no-fail recipe for soft and tender homemade bread made entirely in your slow cooker.
Ingredients
3 cups bread flour (plus extra for dusting)
1.25 cups warm water (105-115°F)
2.25 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 tbsp granulated sugar or honey
1.5 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
Step 2: Stir in the olive oil, salt, and 2 cups of the flour. Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
Step 3: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Step 4: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 5: Line your slow cooker with parchment paper. Shape the dough into a round ball and place it in the center.
Step 6: Place a paper towel under the slow cooker lid to catch moisture. Cover and cook on HIGH for 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
Step 7: Remove the bread when the internal temp reaches 190°F. Optional: Broil for 3 minutes for a golden crust.
Notes
Always use a paper towel under the lid to prevent a soggy top. For extra flavor, add 1 tsp of dried rosemary to the dough.
