Description

This indulgent Deep Dish Meat Lover's Pizza Pie is packed with savory ground beef, robust beef sausage, and zesty pepperoni, all baked into a thick, golden crust with rich tomato sauce and melted cheese.

1 (13.8 ounce) package refrigerated pizza dough
1 tablespoon olive oil, plus more for greasing
1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound beef sausage, casings removed
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9-inch deep dish pizza pan or cast iron skillet with olive oil.
Step 2: Press the pizza dough into the prepared pan, working it up the sides to form a crust. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the crust.
Step 3: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and beef sausage over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
Step 4: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the cooked meat. Cook until the onion softens, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the Italian seasoning.
Step 5: Spread half of the mozzarella cheese evenly over the bottom of the pizza crust.
Step 6: Spoon the cooked meat mixture over the mozzarella cheese layer.
Step 7: In a bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour this tomato sauce evenly over the meat layer.
Step 8: Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and the grated Parmesan cheese. Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
Step 9: Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. If the crust edges brown too quickly, you can cover them loosely with aluminum foil.
Step 10: Let the pizza rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. This helps the cheese set and prevents the filling from spilling out.

Notes

For an extra crispy crust, pre-bake the dough for 8-10 minutes before adding fillings. You can also add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat mixture.
