Description

These delightful Easy Cheesy Bread Rings feature a soft, fluffy dough topped with a gooey mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheese, sprinkled with aromatic herbs.


Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp butter (softened)
¾ cup warm milk
1 cup shredded mozzarella + cheddar mix
1 tsp dried herbs (oregano or basil)


Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
Step 2: Add butter and warm milk gradually to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.
Step 3: Knead for 8–10 minutes until the dough is smooth, elastic, and no longer sticky.
Step 4: Let Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Step 5: Shape: Gently punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12-16 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten slightly and create a hole in the center to form a ring shape (like a donut).
Step 6: Arrange the shaped bread rings on a parchment-lined baking tray, leaving some space between them.
Step 7: Top: Brush the tops of the bread rings with a little milk or melted butter. Generously sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese mix over each ring, followed by the dried herbs.
Step 8: Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cheesy bread rings for 15–20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Step 9: Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm. Enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use good quality, freshly shredded cheese. These bread rings are best served warm, straight from the oven. If you don't have instant yeast, you can use active dry yeast; just activate it in the warm milk with sugar for 5-10 minutes before adding to the flour.
