Description

Quick and delightful, these French toast bites are made from refrigerated cinnamon rolls, dipped in an eggy batter, pan-fried to golden perfection, and drizzled with cream cheese icing.

Ingredients

Scale

1 standard can (12.4 oz, typically 8 rolls) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Maple syrup for dipping (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Open the can of cinnamon rolls and separate the rolls. Reserve the small tub of icing for later. Take each cinnamon roll and, using a sharp knife, cut it into 4 equal pieces.
Step 2: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until they are fully combined and slightly frothy.
Step 3: Working in batches, gently dip each cinnamon roll piece into the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are coated. Don't let them soak for too long.
Step 4: Melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Step 5: Place the coated cinnamon roll pieces into the hot skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are beautifully golden brown and cooked through.
Step 6: Remove the cooked bites from the skillet and transfer them to a serving plate. If you have more pieces to cook, add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet and repeat the process.
Step 7: Once all the bites are cooked, warm the reserved icing packet from the cinnamon roll can in the microwave for 10-15 seconds (if desired). Drizzle the warm icing generously over the French toast bites.
Step 8: For an extra touch, dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a side of warm maple syrup. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the egg mixture. Don't be afraid to experiment with different toppings like fresh fruit or chocolate sauce!
