Description
A quick and addictive snack made from refrigerated biscuit dough boiled in a baking soda bath and tossed in cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
1 8-count pack refrigerated flaky biscuits
1 egg whisked with a splash of water
1/4 cup baking soda
8 cups water
1/2 cup melted butter
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tbs milk
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Cut each of the 8 biscuits into 6 individual bite-sized pieces.
Step 3: Bring 8 cups of water to a boil in a large pot, then carefully stir in the baking soda.
Step 4: Boil the biscuit pieces in batches for 30 seconds per side, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on the baking sheet.
Step 5: Brush the tops of the bites with the whisked egg wash and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Step 6: While baking, mix the cinnamon and granulated sugar in a small bowl and melt the butter in another.
Step 7: Toss the warm baked bites in melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Step 8: Mix powdered sugar and milk together to create a glaze and drizzle over the finished bites before serving.
Notes
Ensure the water is boiling before adding baking soda to get the best pretzel crust. Serve warm for maximum melt-in-your-mouth effect.
