Description
A sophisticated and crispy savory twist on the classic breakfast dish using parmesan cheese and fresh herbs.
Ingredients
1 stale Baguette, sliced into 1-inch rounds
2 large Eggs
10g Green onion, finely chopped
10g Parsley, finely chopped
59ml Milk (1/4 cup)
59ml Parmesan cheese, finely grated (1/4 cup)
14g Unsalted butter (1 tbsp)
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Black pepper
1 tbsp Olive oil
Instructions
Step 1: Slice the baguette into 1-inch thick pieces and set aside.
Step 2: In a wide bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, parmesan cheese, green onions, parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Step 3: Dip each bread slice into the savory custard, allowing it to soak for about 40 seconds per side.
Step 4: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter with the olive oil.
Step 5: Place bread slices in the skillet and fry for 3-4 minutes per side until a golden-brown parmesan crust forms.
Step 6: Serve immediately with your favorite savory toppings.
Notes
Using a day-old baguette is crucial to prevent the toast from becoming soggy. For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the egg mixture.
