Description

A savory and easy-to-make casserole featuring seasoned taco meat and cheese wrapped in a flaky crescent roll ring, perfect for a fun family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef (80/20 or leaner)
1 (1 oz) packet taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup water
2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent rolls
2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, sliced black olives

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.
Step 3: Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid has mostly absorbed and the mixture is slightly thickened.
Step 4: Unroll the crescent dough. Separate into 16 triangles. Arrange the triangles on an ungreased 12-inch pizza pan or round baking sheet, with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the points facing outwards. There should be a 4-5 inch opening in the center.
Step 5: Spoon the seasoned ground beef mixture evenly over the widest part of the crescent rolls.
Step 6: Sprinkle the shredded Mexican cheese blend over the ground beef.
Step 7: Bring the point of each crescent roll triangle up over the filling and tuck it under the wide end of the dough at the center, forming a ring. If desired, you can gently pinch the dough to seal any gaps.
Step 8: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent ring is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Step 9: Remove from oven, let stand for a few minutes. Slice into individual portions and serve immediately with your favorite taco toppings.

Notes

For a little extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or some diced jalapeños to the ground beef mixture. Feel free to swap out ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option. Don't overcrowd the filling to ensure the crescent rolls cook through properly.
