Description

A comforting one-pan dinner featuring savory sloppy joe beef topped with golden, crispy tater tots.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef
1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
1/2 cup diced yellow onion
1 can (15 oz) sloppy joe sauce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
Step 2: In a large oven-safe skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium-high heat until no pink remains.
Step 3: Drain the excess grease from the skillet and return it to the stove.
Step 4: Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and garlic powder, then simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 5: Spread the beef mixture evenly in the skillet and top with a single layer of frozen tater tots.
Step 6: Bake for 20-25 minutes until the tots are crispy and golden.
Step 7: Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the tots and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes until melted. Serving hot.

Notes

For extra crispy tots, ensure the beef mixture is thickened before topping. You can also use pepper jack cheese for a spicy twist.
