Tender fall-off-the-bone air fryer ribs, perfectly cooked.

Fall-Off-The-Bone Air Fryer BBQ Ribs

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x
  • Diet: Pork

Description

Achieve perfectly tender, flavorful, fall-off-the-bone BBQ ribs with ease in your air fryer, ready in under an hour.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5-2 lbs baby back pork ribs (or spare ribs, cut into 3-4 bone sections)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup your favorite BBQ sauce

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ribs. If using baby back ribs, remove the membrane from the bone side of each rack. To do this, slide a butter knife or the handle of a spoon under the membrane at one end. Grip the membrane with a paper towel and pull it off. Cut the rack into 2-3 bone sections to fit comfortably in your air fryer basket. Pat the ribs thoroughly dry with paper towels.
Step 2: Season the Ribs. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, kosher salt, and black pepper to make your dry rub. Brush the ribs lightly with olive oil, then generously rub the seasoning mixture all over both sides of the rib portions. Allow them to rest at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
Step 3: Air Fry. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes. Place the seasoned rib portions in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd (cook in batches if necessary).
Step 4: Cook. Air fry for 20 minutes, then flip the ribs and cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 190-203°F (88-95°C) for fall-off-the-bone tenderness.
Step 5: Sauce and Finish. During the last 5-8 minutes of cooking, generously brush your favorite BBQ sauce over the ribs. Return to the air fryer and continue cooking until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly.
Step 6: Rest and Serve. Carefully remove the ribs from the air fryer and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring maximum tenderness and flavor.

Notes

For extra tender ribs, you can boil the seasoned ribs in water for 20-30 minutes before air frying. Pat dry thoroughly before proceeding to the air frying step.
