Festive St. Patrick's Day layered brownie trifle

Festive St. Patrick’s Day Brownie Trifle

  • Total Time: 1 hour 55 minutes
  • Yield: 8-10 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A delightful layered dessert featuring fudgy brownies, creamy vanilla pudding, whipped cream, and festive green candies, perfect for St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

1 box of brownie mix (or homemade brownies, as per your preference)
Ingredients listed on the brownie mix (usually eggs, oil, and water)
1 box of instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups milk
2 cups heavy whipping cream
¼ cup powdered sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ cup green M&M’s (or green candy-coated chocolates)
1 cup mini marshmallows
½ cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped mint chocolate or mint-flavored candies (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the brownies according to the package instructions. If using a homemade recipe, follow your preferred method. Once baked, allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting them into small cubes.
Step 2: In a mixing bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with 2 cups of milk until it thickens. This should take about 2 minutes. Place the bowl in the fridge to chill.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until soft peaks form.
Step 4: Once the pudding has chilled and thickened, gently fold in the whipped cream to create a smooth, creamy layer. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream too much.
Step 5: Assemble the trifle. Use a large glass trifle bowl or individual serving cups. Start by layering the bottom of your dish with brownie cubes. Spread a layer of the creamy pudding mixture over the brownies. Then, add a layer of mini marshmallows and green M&M’s (or candy-coated chocolates).
Step 6: Continue layering the ingredients in the same order (brownies, pudding mixture, marshmallows, M&Ms) until you run out of them, ensuring each layer is evenly distributed. Finish with a final layer of whipped cream on top. Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips, optional chopped mint chocolate, and extra green M&M’s for decoration.
Step 7: Cover the trifle with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. This chilling time allows the layers to set and the flavors to meld together, enhancing the overall taste and texture.
Step 8: After the trifle has chilled and set, it’s ready to be served! You can serve it directly from the trifle dish or scoop individual portions into small cups. Enjoy the beautiful layers and delightful flavors.
Step 9: (Optional) For an even more festive look or an extra burst of flavor, add extra garnishes before serving. A sprinkle of fresh mint leaves or more chocolate chips can elevate the presentation.

Notes

For an extra touch, drizzle with chocolate ganache or add a splash of Irish cream to the pudding mixture. You can also experiment with different colors of candies for other holidays!
