A decadent appetizer featuring crispy breaded burrata cheese served with a fiery honey-chili glaze.
Ingredients
4 balls fresh burrata cheese (4 oz each)
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 large eggs, beaten
2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
2 cups vegetable oil for frying
2 tbsp Calabrian chili paste
3 tbsp honey
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Freeze the burrata balls for 2 hours to firm them up for frying.
Step 2: Prepare three bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and Panko breadcrumbs.
Step 3: Dredge each burrata ball in flour, then egg, then Panko. Repeat the egg and Panko steps for a double coat.
Step 4: Heat oil in a deep pot to 375°F.
Step 5: Fry the burrata for 45-60 seconds until golden brown.
Step 6: In a small pan, simmer chili paste, honey, vinegar, and garlic for 2 minutes to create the sauce.
Step 7: Serve the fried burrata immediately drizzled with the spicy sauce and garnished with basil.
Notes
Always ensure your oil is at the correct temperature using a thermometer to prevent the cheese from exploding.
