Description
A creamy, buttery, and incredibly easy garlic parmesan orzo recipe that takes less than 20 minutes to prepare in one single pot.
Ingredients
1 cup dry orzo pasta
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)
1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
Step 1: Melt the butter in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat.
Step 2: Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
Step 3: Add the dry orzo to the pan and stir frequently for 2 minutes to toast the pasta until it is lightly golden and smells nutty.
Step 4: Pour in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
Step 5: Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 8-10 minutes, or until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the orzo is tender.
Step 6: Stir in the heavy cream (if using), Parmesan cheese, and lemon juice. Continue to stir until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is creamy.
Step 7: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve your garlic parmesan orzo recipe immediately.
Notes
If the orzo absorbs the liquid too quickly, add 1/4 cup of extra broth or water to maintain the creamy consistency.
