Description
A stunning and delicious grilled dessert featuring tender sliced apples stuffed with gooey caramel and crunchy pecans.
Ingredients
4 large Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples
2 Tbsp. melted butter
1 Tbsp. cinnamon-sugar
1/2 cup caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling
1/3 cup chopped pecans
Vanilla ice cream, for serving
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your grill to medium heat (approx. 350°F) and set up for indirect cooking.
Step 2: Cut the top 1/2 inch off the apples and core them, leaving the bottom intact.
Step 3: Use a thin knife to cut concentric circles around the core, then flip and make vertical cuts to create a 'bloom'.
Step 4: Brush melted butter over the apples and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.
Step 5: Place apples in a skillet or on foil and grill over indirect heat for 20-25 minutes until soft.
Step 6: Fill the centers with caramel and pecans and grill for another 5 minutes.
Step 7: Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and a final drizzle of caramel.
Notes
Ensure you use indirect heat to prevent the bottoms of the apples from scorching before the insides are tender.
