Description
Tender grilled sirloin steak strips paired with a creamy, spicy Cajun mac and cheese and a vibrant garlic tomato medley create an explosive, gourmet-level meal.
Ingredients
1 lb sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch strips
2 tbsp olive oil (for steak)
1 tsp salt (for steak)
1/2 tsp black pepper (for steak)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 lb elbow macaroni
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil (for tomatoes)
1/2 tsp salt (for tomatoes)
1/4 tsp black pepper (for tomatoes)
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
1/4 cup chopped fresh chives (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Steak. In a medium bowl, toss the sirloin steak strips with 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Ensure all strips are evenly coated.
Step 2: Grill the Steak. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the steak strips for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Step 3: Cook the Macaroni. While the steak is grilling, cook the elbow macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 4: Make the Cajun Cheese Sauce. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the cooked macaroni, shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, heavy cream, and Cajun seasoning. Stir continuously until the cheeses are melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Step 5: Prepare the Garlic Tomato Mix. In a separate small bowl, combine the halved cherry tomatoes, minced garlic, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Toss gently to combine.
Step 6: Serve. Divide the Cajun mac and cheese among plates. Top with the grilled steak strips and a generous spoon of the garlic tomato mix. Garnish with fresh parsley and chives, if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the Cajun mac and cheese. You can also roast the cherry tomatoes for 10-15 minutes at 375°F (190°C) for a deeper, sweeter flavor.
