Description
A fast, flavorful, and budget-friendly ground beef skillet recipe perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (85/15 recommended)
1 medium yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon olive oil
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Step 2: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, and cook until browned and no longer pink.
Step 3: Drain excess fat from the pan, leaving about one tablespoon for flavor.
Step 4: Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
Step 5: Stir in the minced garlic, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
Step 6: Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping the bottom of the pan to release any browned bits.
Step 7: Simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes until the liquid has reduced and formed a light glaze over the beef.
Step 8: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot over your choice of base.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine during the deglazing step. You can also add frozen peas or corn during the last 3 minutes of simmering.
