Description
Deliciously flaky puff pastry filled with a savory blend of cream cheese, Gruyère, and fresh aromatic herbs.
Ingredients
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed but cold
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
1 tablespoon fresh thyme, minced
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, minced
2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 large egg (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon water
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, shredded Gruyère, thyme, rosemary, chives, and black pepper until well combined.
Step 3: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut into 16 equal squares.
Step 4: Place a small dollop of the cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
Step 5: Fold the corners together and pinch to seal the filling inside, forming a small ball or purse shape.
Step 6: Whisk the egg and water to make an egg wash and brush it over the top of each pastry bite.
Step 7: Bake for 15-20 minutes until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
Step 8: Let cool slightly before serving to allow the cheese to set.
Notes
Ensure the puff pastry remains cold until the moment it goes into the oven for maximum puffiness.
