Description

A hearty, budget-friendly casserole featuring seasoned ground beef and vegetables topped with golden sliced potatoes and melted cheese.


Ingredients

1.5 lbs ground beef
1 large yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup frozen peas and carrots
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup beef broth
3 large Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Step 2: Brown ground beef with onions and garlic in a skillet; drain grease.
Step 3: Stir in peas, carrots, soup, broth, and Worcestershire sauce; simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 4: Pour meat mixture into the baking dish.
Step 5: Layer sliced potatoes over the meat in an overlapping pattern.
Step 6: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Step 7: Remove foil, top with cheese, and bake uncovered for 20 minutes until potatoes are soft and cheese is brown.

Notes

For a crispier top, broil the pie for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.
