Creamy, melt-in-your-mouth butter mints that are sweet, smooth, and refreshingly minty, perfect for gifts or special occasions.
Ingredients

- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1–2 tablespoons peppermint extract
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, ½ cup at a time, mixing well after each addition until all sugar is incorporated.
- Add vanilla extract and milk; mix until smooth and creamy.
- Add peppermint extract starting with 1 tablespoon, taste, and add up to 2 tablespoons total for desired mintiness.
- Add a few drops of food coloring if desired and mix until evenly distributed.
- Roll the mixture into small balls about the size of a marble and place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Optionally, press mixture into candy molds or shape into squares and cut.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
Adjust peppermint extract to taste. Food coloring is optional. For firmer mints, refrigerate longer or add extra powdered sugar as needed.
