  • Author: Fati
  • Total Time: 15 minutes plus chilling time
  • Yield: About 4 dozen mints 1x

Description

Creamy, melt-in-your-mouth butter mints that are sweet, smooth, and refreshingly minty, perfect for gifts or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 12 tablespoons peppermint extract
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, ½ cup at a time, mixing well after each addition until all sugar is incorporated.
  3. Add vanilla extract and milk; mix until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add peppermint extract starting with 1 tablespoon, taste, and add up to 2 tablespoons total for desired mintiness.
  5. Add a few drops of food coloring if desired and mix until evenly distributed.
  6. Roll the mixture into small balls about the size of a marble and place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Optionally, press mixture into candy molds or shape into squares and cut.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  9. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Adjust peppermint extract to taste. Food coloring is optional. For firmer mints, refrigerate longer or add extra powdered sugar as needed.
