Description
A warm, gooey, and utterly comforting sandwich featuring creamy peanut butter and sweet banana, grilled to golden perfection.
Ingredients
2 slices bread (e.g., brioche, challah, or good quality white sandwich bread)
2-3 tablespoons creamy or crunchy peanut butter
1 ripe but firm banana, sliced
1 tablespoon unsalted butter or margarine, softened
Instructions
Step 1: Lightly butter one side of each bread slice.
Step 2: Spread peanut butter generously on the unbuttered side of one bread slice.
Step 3: Arrange banana slices evenly over the peanut butter.
Step 4: Place the second bread slice (peanut butter side down) on top of the banana slices, so the buttered side faces outwards.
Step 5: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the sandwich in the pan.
Step 6: Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the peanut butter is melted and gooey. Gently press down with a spatula while grilling for even browning.
Step 7: Remove from heat, slice diagonally, and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra sweetness, drizzle with honey or maple syrup after grilling. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon or a few chocolate chips for variations. This sandwich is also delicious with a side of fresh berries or a glass of milk.
