- 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz) or spice cake mix
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts, sprinkles, or M&Ms
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil; stir until thick and sticky dough forms.
- Fold in chocolate chips and any optional mix-ins.
- Press dough evenly into prepared pan, smoothing the surface.
- Bake 20–25 minutes until edges are golden and center is just set.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing for clean bars.
Notes
Use any cake mix flavor you like. Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature up to 5 days; add a slice of bread to keep moist. Freeze cooled bars up to 2 months. For gooey bars, bake closer to 20 minutes and serve slightly warm.
