Quick and easy cookie bars made with yellow cake mix, melted butter, eggs, and chocolate chips for a soft, chewy, and chocolatey treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and eggs. Stir until thick dough forms.
- Fold in chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Optionally, press dough slightly to flatten for more uniform bars.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers are set but still soft.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
- Cut into bars and serve. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Use different cake mixes for flavor variations. Substitute applesauce for butter for a lighter version. Freeze dough or baked bars for later enjoyment. Add nuts, dried fruit, or other mix-ins to customize.
