Description

A comforting, chewy, and crunchy treat made with whole grain oats and pure maple syrup, perfect for snacks or breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1.5 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Step 3: In a separate smaller bowl, stir together the melted butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.
Step 4: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until a sticky, crumbly dough forms.
Step 5: Reserve 3/4 cup of the mixture for the topping and press the remaining dough firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Step 6: Sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture evenly over the top, pressing down very lightly.
Step 7: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the top is set.
Step 8: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into 12 squares.

Notes

Ensure you use pure maple syrup for the best flavor profile. For a gluten-free version, use certified gluten-free oats and a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
