Description
A sophisticated and perfectly balanced classic margarita recipe using the traditional 3-2-1 ratio of premium tequila, orange liqueur, and fresh lime juice.
Ingredients
2 ounces (60ml) Silver or Blanco Tequila
1 ounce (30ml) Cointreau or high-quality Orange Liqueur
3/4 ounce (22ml) Freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 teaspoon Agave nectar (optional, for extra sweetness)
Coarse Kosher salt for the rim
1 Lime wheel for garnish
1 cup Ice cubes
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare your glass by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into a small plate of coarse salt until coated.
Step 2: Fill a cocktail shaker with fresh ice cubes, filling it about halfway to three-quarters full.
Step 3: Pour the tequila, orange liqueur, and fresh lime juice into the shaker over the ice.
Step 4: Secure the lid of the shaker and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the exterior of the shaker feels very cold.
Step 5: Double strain the mixture into your prepared salt-rimmed glass, garnish with a lime wheel, and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best results, use 100% Blue Agave tequila and always use fresh-squeezed lime juice rather than concentrate.
