  • 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained and patted dry
  • 16 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons shortening or coconut oil (for melting chocolate)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract; stir until smooth.
  2. Gradually mix in powdered sugar, about 1 cup at a time, until thick dough forms.
  3. Fold in chopped maraschino cherries and nuts, ensuring cherries are well-drained.
  4. Chill mixture in refrigerator for 30 to 60 minutes until firm enough to roll.
  5. Roll mixture into 1-inch balls and place on parchment-lined tray; freeze for 15–20 minutes.
  6. Melt chocolate chips with shortening or coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  7. Dip chilled balls into melted chocolate, coating completely; place back on parchment.
  8. Let candies set at room temperature or refrigerate until chocolate is firm.

Notes

Use dry cherries to prevent chocolate seizing. Keep chocolate warm while dipping. Store candies in airtight container up to 2 weeks refrigerated or freeze up to 2 months.
