Description
A crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring sweet Hawaiian rolls stuffed with savory hot dogs, hearty chili, and melted cheddar cheese, finished with a garlic butter glaze.
Ingredients
1 package (12 count) King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
6 all-beef hot dogs, cut into halves or thirds
1.5 cups thick beanless chili
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley
Optional: Pickled jalapeño slices
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Step 2: Slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half in the baking dish.
Step 3: Arrange the cut hot dog pieces evenly over the bottom layer of rolls.
Step 4: Spread the thick chili over the hot dogs and top generously with shredded cheddar cheese.
Step 5: Place the top half of the rolls back on, then brush with a mixture of melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley.
Step 6: Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and tops are golden.
Notes
Use a thick chili to prevent soggy buns. Searing the hot dogs beforehand adds extra flavor.
