Description

A spectacular twist on a classic cheeseburger, featuring a perfectly seasoned beef patty with a surprising molten cheese core that bursts with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 recommended)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
0.5 tsp black pepper
0.5 tsp salt
4 oz sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 4 cubes
4 hamburger buns
Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard

Instructions

Step 1: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Avoid overmixing.
Step 2: Divide the seasoned ground beef into 8 equal portions. Form each portion into a thin, flat patty, about 4 inches in diameter.
Step 3: Place one cheddar cheese cube in the center of four of the patties. Top each cheese-covered patty with another plain patty.
Step 4: Carefully pinch and seal the edges of the top and bottom patties together all around the cheese cube, ensuring no gaps remain to prevent cheese leakage during cooking. Form into a neat, uniform burger shape.
Step 5: Preheat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the cooking surface.
Step 6: Place the cheeseburger lava cakes on the hot surface. Cook for 6-8 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness, ensuring a beautiful sear and that the cheese is fully melted and molten.
Step 7: Once cooked, remove the lava cakes from the heat and let them rest for 5 minutes.
Step 8: Serve immediately on toasted hamburger buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.

Notes

For an extra kick, try pepper jack cheese. Ensure the patties are sealed tightly to keep the cheese from escaping.
