Description
A healthy and delicious take on crispy dumplings paired with a rich and creamy peanut dipping sauce.
Ingredients
24-30 gyoza or wonton wrappers
1 lb ground chicken or pork
1 cup cabbage, finely shredded
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp sesame oil (divided)
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp lime juice
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp chili oil (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, shredded cabbage, green onions, ginger, and garlic. Mix thoroughly until combined.
Step 3: Lay out a dumpling wrapper and place about one teaspoon of filling in the center. Do not overfill to prevent tearing.
Step 4: Dip your finger in water and run it along the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper over and press firmly to create a tight seal.
Step 5: Place each dumpling on the prepared baking sheet. Once all are filled, brush the tops generously with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil.
Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Flip each dumpling over and bake for another 8-10 minutes until golden and crispy.
Step 7: In a small bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, honey, and chili oil. Add a splash of warm water if needed to thin the sauce.
Step 8: Serve the hot dumplings immediately with the prepared peanut sauce for dipping.
Notes
For an extra crispy finish, spray the dumplings with a light coating of cooking spray before baking. If the peanut sauce is too thick, whisk in 1 tablespoon of hot water at a time until smooth.
