A comforting Southern dessert featuring juicy peaches topped with a buttery, golden crust, perfect for any season.
Ingredients
- Fresh or canned peaches
- Granulated sugar
- Salt
- Butter
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Milk
- Ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Prepare peaches: peel, core, and slice fresh peaches or drain canned peaches. Cook peaches with sugar and salt on medium heat until sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice butter into small pieces and place into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Melt butter in the oven while preheating, then remove dish.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk until just combined.
- Pour batter over melted butter in the baking dish, smoothing the surface.
- Spoon peach mixture evenly over the batter and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
- Bake for 38-40 minutes until top is golden brown and juices are bubbling.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Let cobbler cool a few minutes to thicken juices. Cover with foil if top browns too fast. Use ripe peaches for best flavor. Store leftovers in fridge for 4-5 days.
