Description
A vibrant, colorful, and extra-chewy spring version of the classic Rice Krispies treat made with marshmallow Peeps.
Ingredients
6 cups crispy rice cereal
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 packs of Peeps (different colors, 12-15 per pack)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
Step 1: Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.
Step 2: Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large pot over low heat.
Step 3: Add one color of Peeps and stir constantly until melted and smooth.
Step 4: Remove from heat, add a splash of vanilla, and fold in 1.5 cups of cereal.
Step 5: Press gently into the pan and repeat with remaining colors.
Step 6: Let cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing into squares.
Notes
Work quickly between layers to ensure they bond together, but use very low heat to prevent the sugar from hardening.
