Description
A juicy ground beef meatloaf stuffed with sautéed green peppers, onions, and melted provolone cheese for a Philly-inspired twist.
Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 large green bell pepper, diced
1 small onion, diced
1 tablespoon olive oil
6 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Step 2: Sauté the diced green pepper and onion in olive oil over medium heat until soft (about 5-7 minutes).
Step 3: In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Step 4: Press half the meat mixture into the bottom and sides of the pan.
Step 5: Layer the sautéed vegetables and provolone cheese in the center.
Step 6: Cover with the remaining meat and seal the edges tightly.
Step 7: Bake for 60 minutes or until the internal temperature is 160°F. Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Ensure you seal the top layer of meat well so the cheese does not leak out while baking.
