Description
A warm, custardy Southern side dish featuring sweet pineapple and a buttery breadcrumb crust.
Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, undrained
5 cups white bread cubes (about 6-8 slices)
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter.
Step 2: Cream the softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
Step 3: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition to create a smooth base for the Pineapple Bake.
Step 4: Stir in the undrained crushed pineapple and the bread cubes until well combined.
Step 5: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
Step 6: Bake for 45-50 minutes until the top is golden and the Pineapple Bake is firm to the touch.
Notes
Ensure the bread cubes are slightly stale for the best texture in your Pineapple Bake.
