Description

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm whole milk (110°F)
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 packet (2.25 tsp) active dry yeast
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg, room temperature
2 tbsp beet powder (for natural pink color)
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2.5 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter, softened (for filling)
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1.5 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

Step 1: Combine warm milk, yeast, and a tablespoon of sugar; let bloom for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Mix the yeast mixture with the remaining sugar, egg, and softened butter in a stand mixer.
Step 3: Sift the flour and beet powder into the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Step 4: Knead for 7 minutes on medium-low speed until smooth; let rise in a warm place for 90 minutes.
Step 5: Roll dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle and spread with filling butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
Step 6: Roll tightly and cut into 12 even slices; place in a greased pan and rise for 45 minutes.
Step 7: Bake at 350°F for 22 minutes; let cool slightly before smothering in cream cheese glaze.
