A rich and comforting layered potato dish with melted mozzarella cheese and savory garlic.
Ingredients
2.5 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 tbsp unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
Instructions
Step 1: Peel the potatoes and cut into 1-inch cubes. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Step 2: Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash with butter, heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Step 3: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Step 4: Spread half of the mashed potatoes into the prepared dish.
Step 5: Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the potato layer.
Step 6: Top with the remaining potatoes and smooth the surface. Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella and oregano on top.
Step 7: Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a crispier top, broil for 2 minutes at the end. You can add cooked bacon bits for extra flavor.
