Description
A super easy and flavorful appetizer featuring breakfast sausage, cream cheese, Rotel, and cheddar, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
1 lb ground breakfast sausage (mild or hot)
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 (10 oz) can Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups Bisquick baking mix
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground breakfast sausage, softened cream cheese, undrained Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and Bisquick baking mix.
Step 3: Use your hands (or a sturdy spoon) to thoroughly mix all the ingredients until well combined. Ensure the cream cheese is fully incorporated.
Step 4: Roll the mixture into 1-inch to 1.5-inch balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small space between each ball.
Step 5: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
Step 6: Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the mixture. These also make fantastic make-ahead freezer appetizers – simply bake, cool completely, and freeze in an airtight container. Reheat from frozen in a 350°F oven for about 15-20 minutes.
