- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for shrimp)
- 1 tsp Creole seasoning (for shrimp)
- 1/2 tsp salt (for shrimp)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (for shrimp)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
- Hot sauce for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat.
- Add diced onion, green bell pepper, celery, and garlic; cook about 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, 1 tbsp Creole seasoning, dried thyme, dried oregano, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Simmer sauce 15-20 minutes until slightly thickened.
- In a medium bowl, toss shrimp with 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp Creole seasoning, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in separate skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook shrimp 2-3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through.
- Add cooked shrimp to Creole sauce and stir to combine.
- Optional: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with hot sauce.
- Serve hot and enjoy your delicious and spicy meal!
Notes
Ensure shrimp are pink and opaque before removing from heat. Use a sharp knife for dicing vegetables. Customize with smoked paprika or red pepper flakes for extra heat. Substitute chicken or andouille sausage if desired. Use low-sodium tomato sauce and reduce olive oil for a healthier version.
